Das mittelgroße Weinbaugebiet Kampanien umfasst eine Rebfläche von ca. 25.000 Hektar und liegt im Süden Italiens. Dort ist es östlich der Stadt Neapel und südlich von Salerno gelegen. Das Klima ist mediterran bei milden Wintern und heißen Sommern. Die Böden sind in der Hauptsache vulkanischen Ursprungs.

Die Reben mit dem Namen Falanghina entstanden als eine natürliche Kreuzung aus den Sorten Gouais Blanc und Chenin Blanc. Der Ursprung der eher unbekannten Sorte wird in Griechenland vermutet. Heutzutage wird sie überwiegend in Kampanien und Abruzzen kultiviert. Auf Grund ihrer überwältigenden, fast zu mächtigen Würze sind die Weine fast ausschließlich im Cuvée anzutreffen.

Charakteristik dieses Weins:
Strahlendes Strohgelb mit grünen Reflexen. In der Nase florale Aromen sowie Noten von Pfirsich, Aprikose und Banane. Am Gaumen frisch-fruchtig, spannungsgeladen mit würziger Note und cremigem Nachhall.

Speisenempfehlung:
Ein hervorragender Begleiter zu Fischgerichten, wie beispielsweise gegrilltem Lachs oder Krustentieren, aber auch zu Gemüsesuppe, Pizza oder Weichkäse - oder einfach als kühler Aperitif.
